The hills are alive with the sound of...discussion?

First of all, a little housekeeping: I have written up some tagging guidelines that can now be found in the user info. Hopefully, that should clear up any future confusion, but feel free to ask questions if it doesn't. Now, on to the main event:

Yeah, I get what you're saying. :) That's one of the things I admire is that he really comes across more as "I'm straight, because for the sake of this situation and the point I'm trying to make, it's the category that I seem to closest fit", not "I'm irrevocably straight, and everyone has to know that so they don't think I'm gay".

I can feel myself getting rather deep and sappy, but oh well: I always want to point out to people that you don't fall in love with a gender. If you did, then you would be in love with every woman you met, or every man you met, or everyone you met. Gender is relevant, sure, but it's not really what makes us unique.

Anywho, totally get the going around with RPS glasses on, though. I've been pretty involved in the so-called Fake News fandom (Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, and various related peoples) for a long time, and RPS is pretty much bread and butter there (then again, it's all RPF anyway). Stewart and Colbert blatantly flirt all the time as part of their onscreen personae, so it's another case of having a lot of inspiration to work with. So I'm pretty used to playing musical sexual preferences with people for the sake of fic. I'm almost surprised at myself when it comes to Darren and Chris. lol

Yeah, it's like Emma's quote to Santana and Brittany: "It's not who you're attracted to; it's who you fall in love with." There are, what, 7.9 billion people on the face of this planet, and for a straight person to say that it is completely impossible for them to fall in love with a member of the same sex, or vice versa for a gay individual...that's naive and foolish. For instance, I'm gay---gayer than a bag of rainbows stapled to a leprechaun's cock, and I am very proud of it. However, I did fall in love with a woman once, against all odds and possibilities. It didn't make me any less gay---it just made me human.

Love is such a beautiful thing.

Where am I going with this? Ah, I do think that Darren has probably experimented in his life, although if he hasn't that's okay too. I don't think, though, that he'd completely write Chris off just because he's a guy, because Darren's an amazing person and really compassionate and cares about things. If something did happen, I'm sure he'd embrace that wholeheartedly.

As for Chris, well, it's Harry Freakin' Potter. He's attractive, Chris is a fan of his work, and they get along pretty well. I'm sure there has been a small crush, honestly, although I'm sure the 'friends' thing is completely dominant because Chris doesn't seem like the insane, imposing type.

They're friends, but I wouldn't count anything out really. That's my opinion. Wow, this is long.

Gosh, don't worry about being too long...I tend to be really long and it's nice to not be alone in that.

Yeah, I do think it's pretty realistic that Darren has experimented before. I mean, he's said as much in one of his early interviews. I can't picture him ever being like "Oh, guess I can't be in love with him, because he's a guy". He'd probably pay more attention to the fact that Chris is an amazing person that he's lucky enough to know. That's really how I saw myself for most of my teenage years: that I was generally straight, but I couldn't predict whether I'd meet a girl someday who would change that. Admittedly, I now consider myself bi, and not actually because of meeting anyone (I continue to be woefully lacking in experience with either gender, lol), but even so, I don't think my previous understanding of myself was any less viable.

I could certainly see Chris having a least a little crush early on. Even if it was really just an acknowledgement while watching AVPM/S that Darren is attractive and writes really good songs and seems like the kind of singing, musical parody-writing nerd that Chris would get along with. And how could he have expected that said person would end up being his onscreen boyfriend? I can see there still being a sortof wistful "What if..." in his head. He is, as you say, human. :)

I think they can have a really beautiful friendship both fictionally and in reality, but in the end, nothing is really impossible. :)

Yeah, I did hear that one! Didn't really surprise me, but it does add one more piece to the picture that is Darren. Although the way he put it was kind of funny to me...kissing guys on their birthdays? Can he kiss me on my birthday? :P lol

Hurrah! Well, I've read the interview, but I haven't heard it yet. He's spectacular, isn't he? God, I wish he WAS gay---I'd be going to LA just to, like, stalk him or something. XD Oh well, I've got Chris Colfer on my plate right now. *laughs*

Ah, but seriously, how cool is he? I mean seriously, he's so laid-back and relaxed with all of the sexuality talk going on, because he's so confident and true to who he is---he's even kissed guys and is still very confident. <3

Thank you for that audio interview!
