I like the university a lot, but there are some differences it took me a while to get used to. First off like many universities the postgrad population is much smaller than the undergrad population, and it's harder to meet people, or people who aren't 16 or 17 years old. Unlike undergrad classes, in these classes you see the same people every time, and they are pretty much 15 people or less. So it's easy to get into a slump. Also, if you're from New Mexico (just saw from your profile) you will be SHOCKED by the weather in the UK. In the fall, it gets extremely damp, I'm from NY and even I was shocked. People are nicer but generally don't show emotion as much.
The res. halls are okay, I'm staying at Queen Margaret which I'd recommend cause you get your own room and your own bedroom and you share a kitchen. It's much more common here for people in res halls not to have roommates so a lot of the halls offer singles only, which is nice!
The people I know who decided on Glasgow instead of London say it's cheaper, easier to navigate and more down-to-earth. I think if I lived in London I'd just feel suffocated by all the people and it's really expensive. Even Edinburgh is more expensive than Glasgow, it's a relatively cheap city to live in.

BTW: I decided on Glasgow and sent my email acceptance last night. =)
