If I ever needed a vacation, it is now most of all. The squadron is going down hill fast. Our Commanding Officer leaves in May and he has us all in an iron grip, making sure nobody does anything stupid and ruin his chances of leaving us with a relatively good evaluation from the Fleet Admiral. To this end we are all working 12 on 12 off, six days a week, with uniform inspections and absolutley no room for any error. It has been pretty bad.
Thankfully, this Thursday I'm done with it all. For a month anyway. My leave time starts in five days. On Thursday I leave work and won't go back until late May. I'll take that first day of my vacation to do laundry and get all my affairs here in Japan taken care of. Then Friday I hop on a Delta airliner and fly into Los Angeles were I will have a cup of coffee with my friend Jess (the only person I know in LA) while I wait for my next flight to Atlanta. From Atlanta I will fly to Pensacola and meet my family who will take me home. I'm stoked.
I'm already in a vacation state of mind. The hours go by like molasses and I look at my watch every five minutes thinking "Is the night over yet?".
