Goodbye Jahzy

Yesterday, I came home from working at Taco Shop. Jahzy greeted me at the door, bounced around the living room and raced up and down the hallway a few times while I got her leash out to take her outside.

She zipped around the yard a few times and bounced back into the house after she had done her business. We came in, she made a lap around the living room before coming to me so I could unhook her leash. I turned to put her leash in the closet and heard her fall. I went to her, talked to her and petted her but she was already gone.

It was two and a half years ago that I got Jahzy. Rescued from a puppy mill that had been raided and shut down by the State. When I got her, she was a 10 year old girl who was in dreadful shape and so scared of everything that she couldn't even react. She was completely withdrawn into her shell. We weren't sure she would live a month, but I took her home, loved her, cared for her and showed her the world. In return, she healed my broken heart from losing Stella. She showered me with adoration and love and made me laugh at the sheer joy she discovered in life.

I'm thankful for the time I had with her. I'm thankful that she waited for me to come home so I could know that her last moment was happy and painfree. I'm thankful I got to be with her and tell her Goodbye.
