Blah blah blah, i bet you are all sick of reading about my school crap, so i'll keep that brief. Day three went a bit better. not much. i guess baby steps are better than no steps. My second period class just plain sucks. My mentor was in the room trying to fix my computer and she saw who was in the class and nearly had a heart attack. apparantly i have all the behavior problems! in one room at one time! awesome! She reamed them out, i re-reamed them out and separated all of them and taht vaguely worked. vaguely. god i hope tomorrow is another baby step forward.
at least my fifth graders were adorable. who knew all i had to do there was sit them boy/girl? hee. At least i will have my afternoons to look forward to. My first project with them is to do a blind self portrait, in pencil and crayon, not looking in a mirror or anything. Then i went on to tell them that we will be learning a lot this year, including how to draw our faces, and that by the end of the year they will be awesome at it. In like May, they will do another self portrait, i'll have held on to the first week of school ones and display them side by side so they can see how they've grown. they were pretty excited by that, so yay!
i think i'm going to start a second journal for all this teacher stuff. that way if you want to read it, you can, if not, you won't be forced to hear my ramblings and see kids work all the time. However, i dont know if i should make it friends only or not? if i make it friends only i can divulge more info, but otherwise it might be nice to make it public, not show kids faces or anything and give other first year art teachers some ideas and things like that. I'll think about it. and make a poll!
