Kyouya liked to avoid sleepovers with Tamaki whenever possible, for the boy was just as boisterous when asleep as awake. Kyouya found that out the hard way the first time: he awoke with a jolt, his tailbone aching, and sat up on the floor livid and wondering just why-in-the-hell Tamaki had ended up all the way down the hall and in the guest bedroom in the first place.
The second, Kyouya chalked up to temporary insanity - that month had seen a nearly twenty-five percent increase in profit, and he had had a moment of weakness. He paid dearly for it, though this time forewent the politics and simply slept in Tamaki's bedroom, on the floor. The next morning greeted him with glaring sunshine and two unexpectedly strong arms crushing his ribcage.
Perhaps the strangest part of the sleepovers, however, was the fact that despite Kyouya's obvious dissent, he always relented in the end. Even he, ever so mindful of numbers, had lost count of just how many times he had spent the night with his friend; how many times he'd corrected his misgivings of Japanese culture, Thank you, Chairman; how many times he'd given in to his cuddling; how many times Tamaki's nighttime sobbing had woken them both, cries of Maman! Papan! leaving his lips to fall upon the deaf, dark walls of his bedroom in the second Suou mansion.
How many times had Kyouya stayed so silent to protect Tamaki's pride while wanting so much more to protect his being, to hold onto him, tightly, and whisper I know?
