"She isn't there," Yamamoto calls, as Gokudera sets a hand to his bedroom door.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean she's left."
"What?"
"Well, I mean, not left forever, I don't think, haha. But she's gone out for the night. Up."
Gokudera only watches him with a mixture of both surprise and alarm. "And you just let her go?"
"Well, yeah. I mean, it's not like it used to be-"
"But that still doesn't mean it's safe."
"She'll be fine, Gokudera. She's tougher than you give her credit for."
"Not tougher than your thick skull!"
Gokudera storms past him, towards the nearest exit, grumbling under his breath all the way. Yamamoto can't help but notice the way he seems almost too flustered to even dig for a cigarette. He smiles a little to himself at that, though it has a tinge of sadness to it, as if he almost feels a little envious that she has that much of an effect on him.
But, more than that, it's suddenly hit him just how much he's going to miss these little chats after Gokudera is gone. It makes his heart ache just a little for bygone days for what he hopes will be the last time.
