Happy New Year! Have a meme.
1. What did you do this year that you hadn't done before? I joined a gym. I fell off the bandwagon, but fully intend to get back on it this year.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? Not so much new resolutions, as trying to maintain the ones I've made in the past.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Eldest Nephew's fiancee gave birth in January 2015. Baby Tristan is absolutely adorable, although Youngest Sis says she's entirely too young to be a grandmother. Says she who gave birth to Eldest Nephew a month shy of turning 19. At least Eldest Nephew waited until he'd reached his 20s?
4. Did anyone close to you die? Hubby's Aunt L passed away in June from stomach cancer. My last great-uncle passed away in November. The mother of one of my pharmacist co-workers passed away on New Year's Eve.
5. What countries did you visit? None.
6. What would you like to have in 2016 that you lacked in 2015? Political drama! No, I'm joking there. Actually, this year I might actually get to take a real vacation. As in going to another location instead of staying home.
7. What date from 2015 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? No single date stands out, just events. Probably The Day Bruno Came Home.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? I actually joined a gym!
9. What was your biggest failure? I need to go back to the gym!
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Nope. A bout or two of the common cold, but nothing serious.
11. What was the best thing you bought? A gym membership!
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? Was it this year Malala Yousafzai won the Nobel Peace Prize? I admire her tremendously. Bernie Sanders. The Kansas City area's behavior at the Royals parade after they won the World Series. (800K showed up, 3 arrests made)
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Donald Trump, pretty much everyone in the GOP.
14. Where did most of your money go? Bills, paying down debt. The usual.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? The Royals winning the World Series! And then the Chiefs made the playoffs. It's the first time both of our major sports teams made the playoffs in the same year.
16. What song will always remind you of 2015? Adele's "Hello", pretty much like everyone else. Uptown Funk.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier
ii. thinner or fatter? Fatter.
iii. richer or poorer? Richer.
What do you wish you'd done more of? I wish I'd found more time to visit the farmer's market last year.
18. What do you wish you'd done less of? Procrastinating.
19. How did you spend Christmas? At home with family. Everyone loved their gifts (I got the deluxe DVD set of Outlander Season 1, yay!), hubby and Dad G prepared Christmas dinner, there was lots of quality family time; it was lovely.
20. How will you be spending New Years? Quietly, at home. I had to work New Year's Day so I went to bed pretty much at one minute after midnight.
21. Did you fall in love in 2015? I fall in love with hubby every day.
22. How many one-night stands? None
23. What was your favorite TV program? Outlander, Game of Thrones, and The Walking Dead were my must-see shows this year.
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? I don't hate anyone, but there are those on the far right end of the political spectrum I actively loathe every time they open their mouths. 2016 is going to be filled with a lot of BS, and I'm dreading it.
25. What was the best book you read? I actually haven't read anything this year. I desperately need to replace my glasses, which is one thing I'm definitely doing this year. There are several books on my want-to-read list.
26. What was your greatest musical discovery? I will always be a hard rock/metal girl; but now that my daughter is starting to become interested in Top 40 acts I've discovered that Taylor Swift and Katy Perry...are actually quite tolerable.
27. What did you want and get? Some much-needed time off. I love my job, but I really needed the break.
28. What did you want and not get? I still haven't won the lottery...
29. What was your favorite film of this year? STAR WARS!!!!! Although Ant-Man was really enjoyable, too.
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I spent my 47th birthday at work.
31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? A successful garden would have been nice. We had lots of tomatoes and nothing else.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Nicolaj Coster-Waldau and Sam Heughan are very, very easy on the eyes.
35. What political issue stirred you the most? The legalization of same-sex marriage made me happy. The rising levels of hate directed toward anything 'other' disturbs me.
36. Who did you miss? I had a friend in Oklahoma who came to KC, but time and schedules didn't allow us to meet up. Hopefully, next time that won't be the case.
37. Who was the best new person you met? I have some delightful coworkers who joined us this past year!
38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2015: There are some battles you can't win. Just bite your tongue and move along.
39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year: 'Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play / And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate / Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake / I shake it off, I shake it off
