memoire involuntaire ; ( capnhotness )

A lack of subtlety is a bothersome thing in the life of one Ianto Jones, as he prides himself on maintaining his cool and calm demeanor no matter what. Alas, after a particularly exciting, er, scuffle, up in the tourist information office with Jack, he's looking a little more on the not side of well put together. Ianto straightens his jacket while waiting for the door to open, and brushes out his sleeves and tightens his tie. He really, really hopes that no one is present in the Hub just now ... and fortunately enough, a cursory glance proves it to be true.

Ianto smiles to himself, pleased and reassured, and starts across the Hub proper as a man with a sense of purpose. He lets himself directly into Jack's office and perches behind the desk, not bothering to get settled in - he doesn't plan to stay too terribly long. Ianto quickly opens one of the drawers to peruse its contents, mumbling to himself. He's in a hurry, but knows he needs to remain methodical ... Jack's organizational skills aren't exactly the best, after all.

Finally, he locates a tin and decides that if he were trying to be subtle, he would certainly put it in something, wouldn't he? Ianto draws out the little metal box and swings the lid open, finding not what he was looking for, but a stack of yellowing, aged photographs and a dried flower. Something about the latter seems familiar to him, as if it should be important for some reason, but he can't put his finger on why.

Ianto picks up the photographs and sorts through them, smiling his bemusement at Jack dressed in the costumes of many decades before. A chronicle of the long, unusual life of Jack Harkness, he supposes ... and things he probably shouldn't be looking at. After all, if Jack wanted to share them, wouldn't he have done so already?

Sighing, trying not to feel put out by the idea, Ianto places the photographs back and starts to close the lid on the tin. But there's something compelling about the flower - a lily, is it? - and he can't quite resist the temptation to pick it up.
