Linkspam has been on a brief hiatus because I spent the last five days skiing (and bitching about the cold), sledding, drinking good wine, and reading Kipling to my nephews. Did anything important happen since last Wednesday?
I did see that

Heh, XKCD
takes on the Terminator franchise. Sherwood Smith has a lovely post
on rereading Master and Commander, the first of the Aubrey-Maturin books. I have been very slowly working my way through the series on audiobook, and just finished Desolation Island the other day. I will take a short break with some Brother Cadfael, and then dive back into the Napoleonic Wars.
More Aubreyad links:
Jo Walton's Reread index. And
a fannish project in which the various voyages are mapped. And
this fabulous Yuletide story in which Stephen & Jack develop telepathy. Catching up on my Google Reader, I see I missed the opportunity say
Mazel Tov! to Thea. ::throws confetti::

The down side of outdoor exercise: Runner's World reports on
the mysterious disappearance of a participant in a legendary short & brutal Alaskan trail run. Something more policy-related:
Time magazine on the stratopheric cost of health care. (LongForm)
