Two
orphaned baby owls. So cute!

The New Yorker on how
The Daily Mail became so powerful in Britain. Hunter S. Thompson's piece (I will not call it an elegy) on
the death of Richard Nixon.
On average, 24 horses die each week at racetracks across America. Good god: I had no idea it was that bad. This is a very disturbing article: TW for animal harm.

This Runners World post probably only makes sense if you've been following current news on exercise physiology. In which case, it's pretty funny.
The Amazing Randi on
the importance of magicians to scientific study. The Joshua Tree is 25 years old this month. Dude, do I feel old: I remember my brother bitching that U2 had sold out.
Steerswoman fans may find
this post of interest. I think I heard about this, but I'd forgotten that Joss Whedon did the dvd commentary for Doctor Horrible
in musical format. Wacky, dude!

I didn't bring any hard-copy books on my recent adventures, which caused me some boredom during the many take-offs and landings I sat through, as I was required to turn off and put away my Kindle. Well, it looks like the FAA is
reconsidering this rule. Bruce Schneier was supposed to testify before Congress regarding the TSA;
at the last minute, he was removed from the witness list. I can't say I'm impressed by these juvenile shenanigans regarding Congressional testimony: it smacks of putting your hands over your ears and shouting "La la la!" really loudly.
Lifehacker has some guidance about managing Facebook at
potential employers. Yikes.

I am fully caught up on Fringe. I am unhappy but unsurprised. I should have seen this coming, television being the conservative medium that it is.
Well, I still have Farscape, The X-Files, and The Good Wife...

In better news, apparently frequent small servings of chocolate are
good for your waistline. And I have a leftover piece of coconut layer cake for dessert tonight.
