If you're an SF/fantasy fan, I can pretty much guarantee you'll find something you like up for sale at the
Con or Bust auction! Check it out, there are all sorts of offers, including signed first editions and no end of other cool things. And of course the money goes to a worthy cause.

I had a good meal last night--homemade coq au vin--with a friend, and we killed a bottle of red wine, and now I'm a bit foggy and cranky.
So let's start with baby animals:
a two-hour-old baby tapir named Dexter. So cute!
Language Log posts on linguistic anachronism
in Downton Abbey. Me, I was wondering about
the yellow Labs, but apparently they are just possible--the first was recorded in 1899.
Vintage Space explains
the history of Tang.
By way of Boing Boing:
a history of carpooling. Coolness.
Also from BB:
the scale of the universe. SO COOL.
Sociological Images reminds us of
an upcoming shopping opportunity. ::facepalm::
Sociological Images also points out
the failure of cut and paste when it comes to religion-specific holiday cards. Woops. Although to be fair, this is so egregious an error, I wonder if it's fake.
I used to really like Graphjam, but I'm getting kind of sick of the
overt sexism in the posts. (And that's a mild representation.) Sigh.
Another BB link: someone studied US box office returns and torrenting, and determined that there
is no relationship. Which I could have told them: if I want to see a movie when it comes out, I'll watch it in the theaters.
Copyfight, by the way, has links to
three new stories from the post-SOPA world.
The Big Picture today is all about
skating. Cool! One of the things I miss about growing up in New England is skating on a lake in the winter: man-made rinks (indoors or outdoors) just aren't the same.
