This is a great essay about fat and our relationship to it. What we call "fat" is socially defined, and may have little basis in what is "really" fat. I think this point is important to recognize because it indicates how arbitrary our judgements can be about what is fat, and how we value fat in ourselves and others. YOu know what I do when looking for young-child data? Troll casperflea's old posts. Casper was 2.5 years old in... January of 2006. Her utterances (and bizarre habits, and skill-acquisitions) are strongly documented for Posterity.

13-year-old boys aren't much different from 2.5-year-old boys, just taller. ;) I can take a look.

Ah, stumptuous.com. Her site is really valuable for those of us who enjoy weight-training, and I particularly admire her attitude toward health and fitness for women. She's so wonderfully sane.
