Musings During Server Updates
As I sit and wait for the latest in update in this round to complete, I sit an wonder why more of this isn't automated. I am still working on my automated deployment stuff for Trac and Subversion, but I really wish I had some kind of basic avatar for sysadmin tasks. I've heard a few not-too-nice things about cfengine, though it looks to have some of the logic I am looking for. My task for the evening is to swap the IPs (and therefore hostnames) or two machines at work. This seems to be the kind of task that a basic AI and configuration management system should be able to handle. Sigh, too much software to write, not enough time.
