Another travel day!
Took the bus up to Siem Reap this morning.... there's a lot of money is this town! Well more so than the rest of Cambodia, from what I have seen so far.
There are a lot of curious things about Cambodia... there's certainly a different feeling here than in Vietnam. I thought it was mostly the same as Vietnam my first day here, but it is very different. I am discovering its hidden depths! Cambodia feels like a country that's still trying to find its feet. Which is fair enough, the Khmer Rouge genocide really wasn't THAT long ago, and it completely devastated the country.
Anthony and I traveled to the killing fields and to the S-21 school where many of the prisoners were kept. It made for two very emotional days. What an absolute tragedy-- a thoroughly, thoroughly, thoroughly awful thing.

(Well, shall we go, then? And enjoy our lives. Since we're lucky.)

Phnom Penh was ok-- it was hard for me to really get a strong impression of it. It felt very quiet... almost unsettlingly quiet. Except for the night of the European Cup... Chelsea vs. Manchester United. It was on at ridiculous ó'çlock... I think we got home at 5 in the morning from this place called Bojangles. I've never even watched a football game before, so it was a good time! By football I mean soccer. Very, very different from watching sport at home.

Tomorrow we shall spend the entire day at Angkor... and possibly the following day as well. And if we like it enough, maybe a third day. Apparently there's just an enormous amount to do and see at Angkor... over 1000 temples and of course the symbol of Camboia- Angkor Wat. Angkor Wat is the world's largest religious monument.

Then I travel straight from Siem Reap to Bangkok!

oooohhhhh i ate some noodle soup at a road stop restaurant on the bus trip this morning and i really believe the meat was bad. i am definitely feeling the stirrings of unease! not good! i haven't felt unwell at all this entire trip.
it will be a long day in the sun tomorrow if i'm sick.
grumble grumble.
or gurgle gurgle i mean.
yuck.
