Howdy kids! D-Rail's back w/ another entry chock full o' goodies for ya! First off, how was your Memorial Day weekend? Mine was THUPER! Basically I spent the entire weekend watching a bunch of drummers (Rachael's personal hell). I went to the Modern Drummer Festival in Newark w/ my buddy Joe. Ok, since when did they add a nice area to Newark? The area surrounding the NJPAC was really nice and clean. Anyway, the first day started w/ Jason Bittner of Shadows Fall. This guy is a beast when it comes to double bass. He played along to a few Shadows Fall songs and did some Q&A. After that I went outside to the lobby to meet him but the fucking usher says "After this guy (pointing to someone a few people in front of me) they're not going to be signing anything." I got sooooo fucking mad that I just had to walk away or I would've punched someone. In the end things worked out. I got to meet him in the lobby and asked him about him teaching drum lessons since he mentioned that he did that on stage. I got some info and hopefully I'll be able to make that a reality. How cool would that shit be? Let's see, we also got to see Chad Smith from the Chili Peppers. I can't stand that band anymore but he was funny as hell and had some kick ass grooves going on. The main act for the first night was God himself on drums, Danny Carey of Tool. *applause* Due to "legal reasons" he could not be filmed for the DVD they were making. Gay. Thankfully I'm a sneaky little shite and I recorded some 30 second clips w/ my digital cam.
Day 2 was awesome as well. It started off w/ Chris Adler from Lamb of God. He brought out his brother who is one of the guitarists and they jammed out 3 tunes off the new album. That was sooooo fuckin' sweet! This time I knew of the "Line Nazi" so I made sure I got to the lobby in time to get an autograph and a picture. The rest of the day was kick ass, and we finished off the night by getting a little silly in Hoboken. Unfortunately there are no pics of how sexy I looked but you can use your imagination. As for the MD Fest, there are pics. Like to see em'? Here ya go!
