Farm Post #1

Second day at the farm. I and the few other 'heavy duty' workers are starting before the harvest season begins in mid-June. Tonight my attorney and I did some estimates and given the value of organic produce and the hours I've been assigned, I am technically working for around minimum wage. I don't see it that way; I see it as 'C9 does productive physical labor for nearly free vegetables.' And I like productive physical work. The brain can't sit and do statistics or read theory all day, every day. You need to do things that create bruises under your fingernails and abrasions on odd parts of your arms.

I need headgear and probably sunglasses. Sunglasses would be fantastic. Damn this myopia. I can't tell the difference between leeks and grass without them, unfortunately.

Today I weeded the leeks (which kind of sounds dirty) and filled up some improvisational water insulation units for the early tomatoes (like this, but made of milk jugs.) This took 4.5 hours. There are a lot of leeks. I guess I'm going to have to find some leek recipes.

I think I'll be leaving the farm posts public, since I'm not naming names.
