This is becoming a diary of a university lecturer.

Hello from the other end of PhD life! I have (quietly) graduated about a week ago and will walk at the May 2024 commencement ceremony. One of my regrets is having gone this far without once making a vlog of my PhD student life, but I have come to accept the fact that for me, being a PhD mama means I don’t have the time and energy to do other things that also require a lot of time and energy.

I have taken on a lecturer position at the same university I did my PhD in. I’m relieved and happy, but also anxious about the shift in roles even though my responsibilities will be basically more or less the same. I think I need to get back on therapy to help manage my anxiety which is often unfounded. I also need to get back to my hobbies to relieve stress. We still live in a place where loud noises will bother neighbors so keyboard-playing is out. I haven’t successfully gotten back on a reading groove so trying to read for leisure may be a bit of a challenge. Will attempt to do tarot, but no pressure on really delving into it the first few times.

And I will hopefully be able to vlog. I even have a YouTube playlist titled “Diary of a deaf lecturer” ready. Here’s to a well-documented life.
