Introductory Chemistry. within, a diagram illustrating the idea of dynamic chemical equilibrium. this diagram is a simple map of a valley with a river dividing it. there are figure-people, and arrows indicating migratory direction. these people are moving from the left, Narnia, to the right, Middle Earth, and back, according to the temperament of their ages.
are you laughing too?
my mom was asking about the potential for a salt and bleach concoction, stuffed into a charm, to regulate the energy/vibrations of the wearer. i think what she was asking is if there was any potential for the stuff to absorb different frequencies, target frequencies, by adding additional elements.
i don't know how to clearly explain this, because her pseudo science is close-ish to something that makes sense, but if i explain it along her lines, i might only reinforce other ideas that simply have no relation. i have to tell her that she's completely wrong, even though, if stretched properly, it could be made to make sense. technically, additives would affect the rate it absorbs body heat. body heat is in a sense a kind of "vibration," but i don't think it's what she means....i dunno, all sorts of little details like that. it's tempting to make her crazy make sense. but bad. it would be too labor intensive to warp her understandings into something functional. it could be so simple as a change in terminology. some of her models function properly, but she has these poetic and fanciful twists that make it difficult. i know, i'm guilty of the same crime, but she takes it to a much higher level. see, "alchemy" appeals to her more than "chemistry," but the relation between the two is direct. but one is shiny and the other woefully complicated. she suffers from an unfortunate kind of low self esteem.
my solution was to recommend a beginning chem class. i don't want to teach her.
it is still hilarious.
