Nothing but rainbows for Sutterhomes!
With all the thunderstorms in my own life these days, I forgot to tell you of a major rainbow in someone else’s!! Strangely enough, the people in my program and I are like family. We’ve been through a lot together. And really, I would say we end up spending much more then 40 hours a week together. So in the last year we have formed our own little bonds. We share each other’s joys and sorrows. Trite, I know, but very true. We pick on each other. We yell at each other, but deep down, we genuinely care about each other. But this story is about Dad. He's dad because he looks out for all of us. And when you cry he just kinda wants to pat you on the head and tell you it will be ok so you stop, but hes not really sure what else to do with you! :) But if you messed up, he'll put you in your place too!! You have heard me talk about Sutterhomes a great deal this year... aka Dad. Sutterhomes real name is Matt Sutton. He’s a couple years older than I, and a Wesleyan Grad. He pretends he doesn’t like our drama and that he doesn’t want to be a part of the group, but really he cares about us. Shhhh… don’t tell him that his secrets out! Ok, so, Matt came into the program dating Belle. Everyone at Wesleyan knew Belle. One, she’s absolutely beautiful and Two, she’s the nicest person EVER! :) So anyway, when all of us were first getting got know each other, the common questions were, are you dating someone, followed by… Have you been dating for a while… and if it was a while, the third question was, Do you see yourself marrying this person. Matt’s responses to all three were Yes! Tee Hee! So topic of choice of the masters office has been, when you gonna propose Matt?! And he kept saying not till they were both done with school. Belle finished her third year of law school this year. A could weeks ago, Matt was looking online for the kind of ring he wanted to get. He checked cuts, and carrots and clarity and the whole nine yards till he knew what he wanted. At this point, I had written a livejournal entry about how excited I was that he was just looking into a ring, but Matt would have ripped both my arms off and beaten me with them if anyone had told Belle he was looking at wedding rings, so I had to take the post down!
Anyway, so then he planned a weekend trip to go away and get the ring, which was super exciting in and of itself. So then one Saturday, Court, Katie, Ely and I were in the office working and Matt came in and pulled up and chair and said he needed a woman’s opinion. Now I was kinda nervous at first as to what he was talking about. But then…. He pulled out the ring and let us all look at it!!!!!! It was sooooooooo beautiful! Ok, I cried just looking at it. I’m not afraid to say that! So then the wait was on. And he said he wasn’t going to propose till this summer, but now that he had the ring, there was no way he was gonna be able to wait!!! So everyday I would walk in the office and ask if he had done it yet, but he hadn’t. And then he finally spilled and said he was gonna ask on her last day of class! So the Wednesday before last was her last day of classes. Matt told Belle that he was going to take her out to dinner, and to the movies to celebrate her being done with school. So he got her little presents to put on her desk at work and a couple magazines for the office. And he wrapped them all up. He gave her all the little stuff first and then he gave her the magazines which she had to unwrap one by one and when he gave her the last one, he said, this one is just for you and she opened it up and it was a bridal magazine!!!!!!!!!!!! Then he got on one knee and asked her to marry him!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yahooooooooo, I’ve waited for this day all year! :) hehe! So, of course, she said yes and now she has a beautiful ring and a great husband-to-be!!! Sutterhomes said he didn’t cry. It’s ok.. I’ll let him lie to me about that! :) Sutterhomes and Belle are engaged!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
