It's more with customers. Since I took a route in the middle of nowhere, there are hardly any complaints. The only current one is of the hoarder lady who will not answer the door when one knocks and then hangs around for almost five minutes filling out a form. She'll call the supervisor and say that 'poor her-nobody ever waits-it takes her longer to come to the door'. I suspect she's really taking a nap in a drugged up stupor. I don't even think she's handicapped, just old and crazy. I feel bad for complaining but the RCA who does my route on my days off can't stand her either now.

When I used to do routes in the ritzier neighborhoods, one would never find a bigger bunch of douches who would never clear their boxes. They'd pay to have someone come clear the driveways, but since they didn't get in front of the box, they wouldn't do it. Some assholes would take the time to shovel out a really narrow path big enough for them to be able to reach their boxes but not wide enough for someone to service them without having to leave their vehicles. Two of my coworker friends have routes that are mostly those kinds of people; they are super late coming back in the winter, partly because they order the most crap as well.

I feel childish for complaining about the guy who goes 'sleeeeeerrrrrpppp' after he says something he thinks is clever. It's so horrible though.

Then I can't stand it when people have this attitude like, "I don't get paid to do this or that." -Like clean out their trucks or pick garbage like tie wraps off the floor. I once made the point that I don't get paid to wash my hands after I use the bathroom, but I still make that extra special effort.

1. Is that the one whose home also reeks of urine?

2. Oh man...that's gold, and yet you can see how no one has probably even realized how true what you're saying is; they really SHOULD be shoveling with the mail delivery person in mind as well.

3. WHO DOES THAT?! Where and why on Earth does he have that habit??

4. Truer words...and L-O-L.

Hey, hey, I wanna ask...do you have like a favorite mail delivery person in fiction? Is it something you've ever focused on? Because I know a lot of dentists I met were very self conscious about fictional dental characters (although I love those characters).

3. It's like he sucks air deeply through his teeth as he revels in the clever comment he just made. Really, he just said something mildly retarded.

Fictional mail person-not really. I'm sure they are out there, but they probably don't even do the same things I do. Most are probably clerks or city carriers who walk around with a satchel. I'm out in the country and now basically more like UPS or FedEx.

HAHA..I'll bet dentists aren't pleased with Steve Martin's character in Little Shop of Horrors. Classic.

I thought of this today and srsly could not think of one mail person in fiction. It probably wouldn't be that big a deal if they were shown negatively somewhere. It's not like public perception of mail carriers would matter in the grand scheme of things. It wouldn't make trouble for anybody.

Now, it makes me mad when Christians are shown negatively in fiction. I could think of countless instances. Then we're dealing with warring ideologies where, even if one looked at it in a worldly sense, has certain ideas more likely to cause death, poverty and misery.

Same with dentists..not important in the grand scheme of things. I could give them a pass because negativity in media might be bad for business. A lot of people are nervous about going to the dentist. Seeing a sadist who enjoys inflicting pain wouldn't help. It's funny how they take a person's blood pressure at the dentist just to see if they are nervous by being there.

Well, there is ALWAYS Cliff from Cheers. theidolhands February 15 2017, 01:06:31 UTC
However, there is also the creepy Newman of Seinfeld. Aaand Men in Black star Tommy Lee Jones. Reba the Mail Lady (“Pee-wee's Playhouse”). Jamie in Steven Universe. The Postman (1997) Kevin Costner. Not sure if "Derpy" from My Little Pony is cannon as a mail carrier or not, but she's beloved that way in fannon for sure.

That is definitely true regarding Christians, they've long been a straw man. It's one of the reasons I like the film Lars and The Real Woman because it realistically portrays a religious person (they're just a background character along with many). It can be alarming when re-watching faves from childhood to see the pattern dominate too. However, FrankenWeenie was a real pass for me because of the forced ideology; it wasn't necessary, and very nice goths can also be religious, as well as people don't require religion to act like zealots or holier-than-thou in their own right.

"How Henry J. Littlefinger Licked the Hippies’ Scheme to Take Over the Country by Tossing Pot in Postage Stamp" by John Keefauver deals with the postal service.

Also Harmione's parents from Harry Potter, but they don't play much of a role.

I complained once to the post office about my carrier not waiting for me to answer the door and just leaving package pick up notices. Apparently, not only do they not have to wait but they don't have to deliver them. They can and will put you on a pick up only list. Last time I ever called to complain!
