Crossover wtf/suck

This happened last week. A customer wtf and co worker/boss suck.
I was there but since I was tending to another customer I didn't really know how it really went down apart from what I saw in the cctv playback.
A couple of customers of foreign nationally came in, walked around a bit and picked out an item then proceeded to the checkout. Co worker was ( Read more... )

the other two co-workers had to replace the stolen amount since they were the only ones that day who were working the register

it's beyond me. now we have to take extra precautions by putting the bigger bills under the money tray

Within your culture, is the system more lax towards worker mistakes (i mean, due to massive negligence, not a simple error)?

Because I can tell you, if a worker around here messed with money? S/he would be fired, plain and simple. An accidental giving back a customer the wrong change, or charging the wrong amount... it happens. But letting a customer just dive their hand into the cash register? No way, man. Actually, management might think that it was some kind of scam, like a friend of the cashier stealing to share the money with the cashier later.

And how YOU end up getting blamed for it is beyond me. Like, I seriously don't understand how she wasn't fired and you got scolded.

the boss thinks as long as his money is a-okay even if it means coming from our own pocket everything else is secondary.

because we're understaffed and the boss is too cheap to hire another worker
