Crossover wtf/suck

This happened last week. A customer wtf and co worker/boss suck.
I was there but since I was tending to another customer I didn't really know how it really went down apart from what I saw in the cctv playback.
A couple of customers of foreign nationally came in, walked around a bit and picked out an item then proceeded to the checkout. Co worker was at the till and stated the amount to the customers. The male customer took out his wallet and handed a bill of foreign currency.  But of course since we do not take foreign currencies co worker told him that they could get the currency exchanged at the sole money exchange parlor not that far from us.
I'm not really sure what happened but we suspected that the customers would mostly wanted to see how our currency looks like then co worker opened up the cash box which as you understand is a massive NO-NO unless there was payment to be made. From the playback we could see said male customer dove his hand in at the stack of RM100/50 bills and was just shuffling them around. From where I was standing I could hear co worker explaining to them how our currency looks like and what note they're in as well as colours. It went down for a maybe about a minute then the male walked out to presumably have his money changed. When he came back,  paid for the purchase and before co worker could close the drawer the said male did what he did earlier for unfathomable reason.
Fast forward to the next couple of hours when the other co worker was closing for the afternoon she noticed that the cash box was short of RM300. Of course losing money from the cash box you're responsible of is serious business so she immediately gave the boss a call. Granted the boss wasn't all that happy and actually yelled.
Fast forward last Thursday.  The boss came by and immediately upon arriving asked that the footage of that day the money went missing to be played back so he could see what/how things actually went down. He saw what the three of us saw which didn't really show how it happened. At the end of it it was concluded that a sleight of hand included.
It was unfair of the boss to have it at me since I was helping another customer and the fact that I did not touch the cash box even once that day. The 2 co workers did. He told me that I should have been with the co worker when she was working the register  so that no one can come close to it, as in real close to actually put their hands in the open register.  It's also implying that I should not be doing what I'm being paid for, to make a sale, so that I could play security.  Which is odd since the boss always scold me for not being over the top friendly and just standing about unhelpful.  Not true. I'm friendly when the needs be especially to dear customers albeit fake. But of course,  the boss seems to always catch my wrong doings but never the other 2. Blah
What I bothers me to this day is why oh why did co worker open up the cash box just because someone wanted to see how our money looks like while she would never even open it when some random person asks to break a twenty or something. I was told when I just started that it was to prevent things exactly like this from happening.  Go figure. And being a higher being that she is, she never takes responsibility seriously. She just went, there was nothing anyone could do about it, just pay from own pocket. Brat!
