Sonnet

This is the Rikchik sonnet about lumpybeast I mentioned recently.

Translation: (rhyming words are italicized)
I share a poem about the beloved human who shares all time with me,
because I enjoy writing it. I do this for the happy sound she makes reading it.
In loving earth, flowering in the sun, and happiness in water, she is like a great tree.
More than that, in fiery thinking and seeing emotion she is like a wild beast 1.

With the sun not above in the sky, she sleepily dresses 2 in work clothes.
By underground mechanical rail she goes to seven sevens 3 of learning children.
She teaches them English 4 literature and language.
In her schoolroom, children 5 think unchildish thoughts.

In the night, having come home from school, she is sleepily 6 happy at me.
Happy she and I are like grass under every idle sky.
We eat tasty food, whether bought, delivered, or home-made.
With our arms 7 all around, together we and a sweet cat 8 sleep happily.

These are just small words about her actions. The way I feel
about loving her no box of flowery words can hold. 9

Notes:
1 Beast or Lumpy Beast is an animal native to the rikchik's world. It is also her name in Rikchik.
2 This verb is literally "paint" since the rikchiks don't wear garments except as protective gear. I believe that they find our use of cloth for adornment rather funny.
3 This is both a standard Rikchik construction for "many" and also a good approximation of her actual number of students.
4 Literally "Junction-Speak" or "Anglish".
5 These are not grammatically the same children because the child in "unchildish thoughts" gets in the way.
6 This is actually a different "sleepily" than in line 5. The earlier one is "wanting-sleep" and this is merely "sleep-ish".
7 Literally "tentacles".
8 This is literally "bouncer" which is a small predator.
9 This is a pretty loose translation of the final couplet, but that has a lot to do with the line break. More literally: "Small words include the words that are read about what she does. From love of her, of happy me / the big emotion no box artily made of flowery words can hold."

There is another post in the Rikchik Language Institute community that deals with more of the language side of the sonnet.
