Its been months?! Where ya been man?!
So much has gone on already this year... thus part of my invisability act. Im not sure where to even start, but here it goes:
At the end of 2009, on Christmas Eve, my cousin passed away. It was a long time coming but it sucked all the same. It made for a very bittesweet holiday.
2010 brought a round of heart surgery for my mom as well as questions and NO answers to some internal bleeding she is still having. Dad's Alzheimer’s condition has been downgraded once again. He is forgetting simple things, items, names; his short term memory is very bad, long term memory is now taking a hit. As a family, we have started making preperations for when my mom can no longer care for him on a daily basis. This has me torn because i never thought I would be one to even consider assisted living for my parents. But being in this situation has shown me that I dont have the answers to everything and that the best place for my dad may be a home that specializes in dementia, and not bored at home watching 15 hours of TV and rearranging the kitchen mats 900 times. He wouldnt be alone, have others to talk with (which he LOVES) and activities and in a safe environment where he wont be able to wander off. When this does come to pass, and i believe we are less than a year off of needing to cross this bridge, I am hoping we can get both parents closer to where i live, so that visits can be daily. The housing market sucks and getting them closer would mean needing to sell the house and the land they have, and right now, the buyers are just not out there for thier area. Lots in motion on this end.
Of course not all is doom and gloom. Hiro turns two in April and is such a great little baby bear! He is talking much better now, and he uses it to demand Thomas the Tank Engine on TV constantly! :) He is so good natured, he totally melts mommys heart!
Michaela will be six! SIX! Can you believe it!? My little two pound preemie noodle is now going to be a big girl! A first grader! Oi Vey! She has lost both top front teeth and a bottom front tooth and looks absolutely rediculous in a darn cute ogre kind of way! She and I have a special connection. Maybe its girl thing, maybe its a mommy-daughter thing, maybe its just that things with her could have turned out SO differently, so badly, the worst... and here she is, my beautiful delicate flower, obsessed with Michael Jackson, in the top 5 of her grade level, Student of the month for her strong Character, and shes here... shes HERE... we are so lucky and blessed. Thank you to the Goddesses looking out for her. Thank you Great-grandmom, Mama, I know you are guiding her, blessing her from where you are. I know you are loving your great grand children from afar. I love you, they love you. We all miss you.
*sigh*
Mikie is still out of work, but boy our house if getting a lot of attention! He has insulated and worked in the attic prepping for when we get ready to install central heating and air. He is now on upgrading the electrical box and adding additional wiring. Hes definitely keeping busy. One of these days Im actually going to finish painting the house! Yeah, yeah, i know, im slacking.
Me, I have been working my BUTT off. Our offices moved locations to a bigger building, and I have to say it pretty darn nice. The space is welcome because it seems like I am always just SO busy! I have the go ahead to train a backup person, and Im hoping that the 'backup' person can be permanently added as 'staff'. We'll see how that goes.
