I took a little personal trip to Birmingham last weekend. There were many friends down there I'd been promising I'd hang out with, plus one new one I'd been MySpace friends with for a few years but never met in person before. (She ended up being an absolutely amazing person.)
I also spent time with my (ex)sister-in-law whom the family refuses to understand. I love her & I love our niece. I don't care who got a divorce or why, she's still family IMHO.
Not many women I know like to travel alone, but I do. I love getting a cushy hotel room & brewing some coffee in the in-room perk. I like ordering room service & sitting by the window taking in new scenery.
Ever since my father-in-law gave us a GPS, I don't fear getting lost either. (I just hope that having it doesn't disuade me from remembering how to read an actual map.) When I travel, it is just me, my wheels & any amount of mucking about looking at fresh sights. It sparks my imagination. There are so many galleries to visit, restaurants to eat at, etc.
I'm starting to fall in love with Birmingham to be honest. It buzzes with just enough activity to excite my mind, but isn't too difficult to get around either.
