I've wanted to try to teach my kitty Sophie to walk on a leash for a long time, but up to now I haven't been able to even get her in the harness before she throws a huge fit. Today, though, when I came in from checking my mailbox, she looked particularly desperate to get outside. And she's been particularly desperate for attention since I got back from Kansas (she was lonely and missed me while I was gone). So I figured I'd try the harness again. I got her into it with minimal trouble (well, mostly into it--she's a little too fat for the final snap on the harness, but it was fastened well enough for some light walking and lying around outside), leashed her up, and took her outside. It was pretty neat.
I think she enjoyed it, even though she seemed rather stressed by the presence of the harness. She'd get all interested in the things around her and want to explore, but then the harness would make its presence known and she would throw herself to the ground to try to escape it. We only spent about 10 minutes outside, but I had some success with whistling for her to come to me while on leash. I hope she'll let me try it again sometime soon.
