1. hradzka is passing the virtual fannish hat to collect donations for thete1's and buggery's moving expenses. that's a good enough cause for me, but as a bonus, david hines, petronelle, and marcelo are offering to write for people who donate. also, brown_betty can pass along money via paypal (hradzka's "hat" is via amazon, which doesn't take paypal).
2. livejournal's current charity gift is a turkey that comes with a donation to heifer project international. i have to admit that i'm still on edge about lj's recent policy changes, but i'll take this opportunity to say that donations directly through heifer.org make great gifts, especially with the gift-giving holidays approaching for many of us. (there's even a card you can print out with a picture of the animal you donated towards, for your in-person gift-giving pleasure.) haven't you always wanted to donate bees?
