It's true. Yesterday and today were both prime examples of that. I started both days out on the treadmill where I ended up having to mix it up between running and walking. Yes believe me I am running on the treadmill. Let me tell you, gravity is not my friend!!!! Sye made me start this version of speed training on Friday night and told me I'm supposed to do it at least twice a week from now on. I figured I would try to get it over with early in the week. Actually knowing me I will continue with it even through the rest of the week. I start at 2.5 on the treadmill for half a lap then I go to 4.0 for as long as I can stand it to do a nice slow jog. I ended up impressing Sye with being able to do longer than he figured I would, so then we went down to 2.5 again for half a lap then back up to 5.0 since I opened my mouth and told him I was running at 5.2 the other day to try it out. He didn't see me doing that which was my plan to start with. So I run at 5.0 for as long as I can handle it. I try to keep my heart rate around 170 but that doesn't always work out. Then I slow it back down to 2.5 or 3.0 and will continue until I hit a mile. Then I do a fast walk between 3.3 and 3.5. This ended up burning 300 calories for me so it's time to transfer over to the bike. The bike we also decided to do some speed training so I start at level 7 or 8 and try to do 16.0 miles and then he moves it up to level 13, you know like a hill is coming, then I do that for as long as I can and then go back down to level 6 then up to 8 then up to level 13. I ended up doing this for 25 minutes and burnt another 300 calories. So now I'm up to 600 and need to get to 800 so it's time for the elliptical. Let me tell you my legs were really hurting this morning but I continued and did 1.10 miles n the elliptical in 22 minutes. Not bad if you ask me. Then since I haven't lifted since Friday I decided to lift again and did three reps of the chest press. This is my weakest and I didn't think my legs could do the leg press. The elliptical was the hardest for me as I really wanted the calories to melt away so I wouldn't have to be on it the 20 minutes but it knew that so it took the full time then some to burn the last 250. This machine used to give me the best results. It's weird how you have to mix it up and how as I'm losing more, getting to 850 is more of a challenge, but I'm still doing it, which is what I'm most proud of.
Oh and I "cheated" and got on the scale this morning and I was thrilled with the results, it said I lost 3.5 lbs this week. We will see what the end result is next week as I know it can vary. Take last week for instance, it said on Sunday afternoon I lost 1/2 a pound but Monday night it said 2 pounds. Let's just hope it stays around 2 pounds.
I'm also sticking to the diet well. I made a few minor changes but they haven't been affecting things so I'm sticking with it. I have to upload my watch to the system tonight so I will see the next weeks worth of results which will be interesting.
I have to say, getting in shape is definitely hard work but it's completely worth it. Oh and to top it off, they moved the competition to April 12, 2007 for the final results testing from this Thursday. I will keep you updated. It will be interesting to see what goes on. I may finally meet my team!!!
