So lovely to be in the garden!

It's so lovely to be out in the garden! But it was such a nice afternoon I had to go for a brisk walk to and from the beach at Discovery Park...this cut my time in the garden short, and I worked past sunset under the porch light, but it was damn sure worth it. Spring is in full effect!! Everything is blooming and green.

Vincent helped me arrange the straw bales for my straw bale vegetable garden - I'm so excited!! I'm planning heirloom cherry tomatoes (Koralik), basil and European greens (Bellesque Endive, Wild Garden Chicory, Early Palla Rossa Radicchio, Garden Sorrel, Brune D'Hiver Buttercos Lettuce, Bloomsdale Spinach, Val D'Orge Butterhead Lettuce, Rouge de Grenoblouse Crisphead Lettuce, Persian Garden Cress, and Roquette Arugula.)

I cleaned up the garden space somewhat, Vincent pruned the rosemary shrub back (my messed up hand is too weak for that), and I FINALLY cleaned up, pruned back and fertilized the three hanging fuchsia baskets. These could've been restarted at the beginning of April, but oh well. All appear to be in good shape and survived the winter despite my neglect. I wonder if they survived my uneducated pruning! Hehe

I'm quite looking forward to working in the garden more. I have really missed it.
