I know what some of you are thinking: "What? There's no LJ connection in Newfoundland? Where's our dose of dry and sarcastic wit damn you?"

So, I'm in Atlanta with my friend Artemis the Sea Monkey. That makes more sense if you're me I confess and is of course unusually obscure even by the standards of someone who's pioneering the occult and allusive school of public diarying.

So, last week in Newfoundland, I'm sure that I've previously told you of the Epic Journey Underground at Bell Island No 2 mine and the cold and damp nature of what lies below the Earth's surface. Truly they're skilled people. Well, since that time the Avalon peninsula has been visited. One winter there is enough to change it from "Wondrous land" to "Woeful place" and that I can well believe. Anyway, six feet of snow in the winter doesn't mean that I didn't get sunburnt on a windy day.

On Wednesday a vegetarian restaurant was visited. "The Sprout". The main course was most passable, but the service was slower than an Atlantan on dope. They had a limited range of desserts and I opted for the "Shaker style citrus pie". The horror. Oh! The horror! Essentially uncooked orange, lemon and lime covered in slime with _pie_ pastry. I liked the pastry.

Later we went on a ghost walk. It was unintentionally hilarious because it was really obvious that he was reciting lines that were written down, not so much in a monotone, but with very little appropriate variation in pitch and speed. There was a reliance on phrases such as "till the very life was choked out of them" which showed a poor understanding of how gallows actually work. Although upon reflection, maybe Newfies aren't smart enough to do such things properly? Who can say.

Getting to Atlanta has been gruelling, but the warm welcome more than made up for it. It looks like "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Superman Returns" are on the cards as indeed is some new electronicy gizmos.

Ooohhh... yes... and that reminds me. I like having friends who are well connected; I'm going to be going to the Bahamas for three days and four nights. Ciao!
