House situation
Last week I put in an offer on a house, it's pretty awesome but I haven't had time to blog about it yet. Unfortunately, after the inspection on Monday I ended up canceling the contract because of some major issues -- the siding was in really bad condition (although this was masked pretty well) and needing immediate repair/replacement, and there was also an issue with water coming into the roof (no flashing) down into a utility room and into the main electrical panel. Everything else about the house is in really good condition, though.
Well, it turns out that the seller is willing to repair every single thing on the inspection to my satisfaction to make good on the deal. After some discussion with my agent and the inspector, I am going to take them up on the offer. Currently my agent is trying to find out if they will get quotes on repairing the wood siding (and repainting the exterior of the house) versus replacing it all with vinyl siding. I'd totally be willing to add the difference to the offer price, because it would mean a LOT less maintenance down the road.
