Budehuc is in disarray, people do not feel safe, rules are being broken, and it seems no one is quite sure what is right and what is wrong myself included. That is why I have decided to start cracking down on the rules; if we want our home to be safe, we cannot sit back and do nothing!
Of course, my suggestions are only as they are: suggestions. To put anything into action would probably require approval from mostly everyone else.
1) Evening-Hours Curfew: Far too many people stay up too late! Even though I am awake at late hours, it is because of my work shift. However, people should not be wandering around the grounds late at night, and perhaps we should ask places like the tavern to close earlier. Why is it open so late anyway?? I imagine that banning alcohol all together would help a lot as well, but no one will support me there.
2) Privilege Suspension: There are more privileges for the people who live here besides getting to eat desserts. Most residents have to pay for their room and board at the inn, and every week the chores lists is posted by the castle newspaper. When people misbehave, depending on the severity of their behavior, certain privileges will be taken away. I am open to suggestions as to what this might entail, but there are all sorts of alternatives, ranging from extensive chore-duty to paying fines to spending a day or two in jail.
3) Heightened Security: Last year I learned I cannot do everything on my own. Of course, I can try, but that has nothing to do with this. To ensure every area of Budehuc is properly watched at all times, we should expand our patrol force, and work in groups of two, three at most.
I do not know how effective any of these ideas will be; in fact, they might not help at all, but I think that it would be better for me to actually do something about it rather than say something needs to be done. As for my own patrol, Luca, you must start reporting in a more timely manner. I do not care if you were napping or eating or whatever indecent things you were doing before your shift. I have been too easy on you, so if you ever expect to get even remotely close to a promotion, you will have to start working harder. And no more fighting with Sir Hervey! I do not care who started it, or who ended it, or who was going to end it but got sidetracked halfway through, as a guard you are not allowed to behave that way!!
But we can't always concentrate on the distressing things because that would put everyone in a distressed mood. If we are going to celebrate spring with a festival, we cannot all be unhappy! If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, please don't be afraid to let everyone know!! In the meantime, I need to leave my armor at Peggi's to be cleaned for the season, so perhaps I will ask Martha to mend my mother's robes they ought to fit, but I've never tried them since she has been storing them for me. I also need to help Lady Nina plan for the super secret wedding, and visit Sir Stallion, and make a new map for Sir Lino... Also, Sir Hugo, I think I might accept your offer to go flying with Fubar. I have an inkling as to where Koichi may be, and the other dogs miss him very much.
