Interrupting my train of thought, lines of longitude and latitude

I'm listening to random MP3's picked out by iTunes, and a short while ago Michael Stipe's cover of "In The Sun" (by Joseph Arthur) came up. Now, I'm a big fan of R.E.M. and usually like everything that Michael Stipe comes in contact with, but I just don't seem able to summon up any enthusiasm for this track. I think it might be partly down to the fact that I really really like the original, so this cover is inevitably going to suffer in comparison. Oh well. Speaking of Joseph Arthur, he's playing at the Zodiac tomorrow.

As mentioned previously, I went to see the Young Knives on Saturday (it's the third time I've seen them if memory serves). They were sold out upstairs, which is quite impressive seeing as how the last time I saw them was a mere three months ago and they were downstairs then. It's possible they've had some coverage in the music press or something which has generated some interest (I wouldn't know since I don't bother keeping up with the music press, apart from flicking through my parents' copy of Q now and then). They had a single and video out recently as well, that's probably contributed to it. Anyway, it's good to see them doing well. They slipped in one of their earlier songs, "Night of the Trees", from their first mini-album... they don't play those songs much these days as far as I'm aware, so it was nice to hear one of them.

EDIT: I've just spotted that the new Adem album is due out on April 24th. Yay!
