Something not quite right

I really do not know what all the fuss is about regarding the hidden sex scenes in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

In that game, you can shoot people. You can steal cars. You can drive at high speed, running down pedestrians left right and centre. You can beat people over the head repeatedly with a golf club. You can get involved in gang warfare, drug dealing, organised crime, you name it. You can hire prostitutes, have sex with them (you can't see anything but the noises and bouncing suspension do give it away somewhat), and then mug them afterwards to get your money back.

All this was fine and dandy, and it got a 17 rating. Walmart, who are renowned for not stocking anything that doesn't fit their "family friendly" image, were seemingly content to stock it.

And then the discovery that there are graphic sex scenes hidden in the game, inaccessible unless you apply a hack available on the Internet, causes the game to be reclassified as "Adults Only" (an 18 in our terms) and dropped from Walmart's shelves.

So let's get this straight. Guns? Okay. Drugs? Okay. Car theft? Okay. Random violence? Okay. But SEX?! Good heavens, America's youth is in peril!

I'm happy to note that there's so far been no such fuss over here, although it's probably only a matter of time.
