Week three of BAPA and St. George rehearsal is finito. That means we're past the half-way point of this precursor to faire. That also means that we've only got two more weekends of BAPA and rehearsal before it's the real thing.
Eeep!
The last rehearsal is going to be the dress rehearsal, so next Sunday is going to be cramming in so much information it's going to be very scary. As for BAPA, I don't know exactly, but I would assume we're going to start getting a little more into character and patron interaction. But for now, another recap:
Saturday was hot. Damn hot. It was in the 90's and very sunny. Lots of sunscreen applied, plenty of water drunk, and shade was a precious commodity. Everything went over well, nothing incredible to report. Probably the biggest thing was in Street Class, we had to come up with a hook to interact with patrons. Mine seemed to be received well, and I'll hopefully get a chance to trot it out occassionally. During the Final Number rehearsal, got to go up on the Chesire Chase stage and sing the songs (not that I'll be anywhere near the stage during the actual faire), and was amusing people in the audience with my hand gestures to The Mermaid. Guess all those hours spent with Bounding Main were worth it.
Today, it was wet. Woke up to a drizzle that turned into a downpoar. Got stuck on I-94 thanks to a semi that smashed into the concrete barriers between north- and south-bound traffic, and all three lanes were closed (moved us over to the shoulder). When we finally got to Bristol, we found out we were holding our rehearsal in the Sky Chair shop so we could stay dry. Mary K was there today, so during our precedence circle, we didn't have to reverance a tree this time. After lunch, the entire cast rehearsed the Final Number, and once again, I'll have not a damn thing to do with it. After that, the regular noble-types did some stuff and nonsense, and we few yeoman (we lucky few) went out and did some drilling with the glaives and wandered about. Went down to Lake Elizabeth and checked out the Dreadnought, and it looks dang nice. Definitely coming along nicely. Not much else besides that. Went to dinner with a group of St. George folk, and had a fun time chatting and hearing a few bits come up. I hope Darren and Robin do the gambling bit they were creating at Culver's. HIGH-larious!
I did learn one really cool thing today. I found a new gate into the Inner Circle, that in almost seven years of faire-going, I never noticed before. It's a narrow little passage, and as Patrick said, if you time it right, you can make yourself look like you've disappeared. Very cool.
All in all, a good weekend. Definitely getting revved up for faire to start, and I'm beginning to get the butterflies ("Holy crap, can I actually do this without &*$#ing up?"). Need to work on my vocabulary a lot still and come up with a couple more openings for patrons. Still need to pick up a few items for my garb, and then I'll be set. I'm just praying that at 10:00 am on July 8th, I don't forget everything.
