I emailed "Chris Grady" on the fourth in regards to meeting up sometime soon, I have been busy lately, and I got another job to supplement the fact that I don't get paid very much to do the one this journal is devoted to.
I just posted the following post on the kvrx site, since I am a staff member and I can do that. I think that this pretty much sums up a lot of recent issues and such at the station, and in regards to club night, and it might give you various information about club night you did not already know. :
CLUB NIGHT
Posted on Tue 7/6/04 by Brian, Club Night Director
Tonight, Tuesday, is Club Night at Emo's, as usual. What is not usual, however, is the fact that we have had a rampant suspensions flying around the station, and if you are a DJ that did not fill your volunteer hours for last month (and 2 hours is really not hard at all) you still need to make those up, or remain indefinitely suspended.
One way to do this is to come help out at Club Night, music at Emo's starts at about 10, and all you have to do is either hang out at the table for a bit and sell KVRX endorsed items (such as shirts, and local live CDs) or just go amongst the crowd and pass out some stickers or copies of the call letter or something, and encourage people to listen to our beloved radio station. It is an easy way to earn 2 hours, maybe more if I am feeling particularly generous.
We don't ask a lot out of the Club Night volunteers, the job is more about having a good time and letting people know about the station than anything else. It doesn't cost you money to come volunteer, and selling things helps to benefit KVRX.
I am posting this for a couple reasons. For one, Emo's is closed next Tuesday, and while the website says "TBA" for the following Tuesday, the printed schedule in the chronicle says "closed". So what this means is that until the 27th when Please Die plays with The Good Looks and others, this is your last chance to participate in Club Night and score heinously easy volunteer hours and get unsuspended. Also you get to see bands like The Onlys play, and I know you want to do that. Secondly, I am posting this because there are a lot of people who need to make up hours, which leads me to point number three: essentially nobody has volunteered for the past 2 weeks. For this, I am greatly disappointed in all the volunteers, particularly those who were all suspended because they were too cool and busy to come spend a couple hours going to a free show and telling the people there to listen to their horrible radio show that only their best friend and fat girlfriend listen to.
Cliff Notes:
1. Tuesday is the last club night for like 3 weeks.
2. All sorts of people are suspended, nobody is currently on my list to attend.
3. Your radio show sucks, and your girlfriend is fat. If you want to change these things, and gain a larger listener base, you will volunteer at Club Night.
4. Email me at clubnight@kvrx.org before Tuesday afternoon if you want to volunteer.
5.
6. Profit.
I realize this was an obnoxiously long post, but like Club Night, the post about Club Night was EXTREMELY IMPORTANT (not to mention EXTREMELY TIME SENSITIVE). Thank you so much for your time,
Peace and Anarchy,
