This is a note to all [flag] members..SPREAD THE WORD
To any an all Guard members. NEVER HIT A HORN LINE MEMBER IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD. From personal experience I know that it hurts, you get a huge knot and have to march the rest of the show on the break of tears while in excrutiating pain. For those of you who dont know what happened..lemme explain.
All through the band practice tonight Tim worked on sets 1-17 and 1-10. ALL NIGHT. So during the final run through we go through sets 1-8 okay..then we get to sets 9 and 10 (the lunges with the rifle throws) and thats when this disasterous event occured. When leaving to go to the subsets and then to the woodwind feature...a guard member fit me flat out in the back of the head with her orange eye flag. After the fact I learned that a freshman flute player was not in her spot and the guard (who shall remain nameless) had to accomadate this adjustment in drill, and did not notice moi, who was two sets to her left. I got whacked and it hurt. The rest of the show (i wasn't playing because of cold/asthma issues) I marched with tears and tremors and it wasn't good. At the end of the show when we were in the front Cunningham noticed me and came over to ask me what happened. This was my reponse.
"A flag member hit me in the back of the face with a guard"
I'm not kidding. Please PLEASE don't do it again. Thank you.
And to a certain []clarinet player...what have you given to the band besides a bunch of excuses and a instrument repair bill longer than the football field?!
Goodnight. I'm not finishing my history..it can wait until morning.
