Grant did not "happen" to be black. This happened precisely because Grant was black and the US (like the UK) is a deeply racist country.

Sorry if I gave the wrong impression from what I wrote. I totally agree with your point of view on this, it's just I was trying to make the point that this shouldn't be a reason for summary execution.

I know but as people like Dubois and Crenshawl and Delagdo point out one of the elements of white privilege is that we don't have to call out racism when it happens, we can make euphemisms and assume everyone know's we're sincerely anti-racist.

Of more power is white people calling out racism and white privilege every time they see it. I'm trying to make sure I do that!

Eeek!

It is pretty horrifying. I wonder what their "rationale" (excuse) for why they did this is.

It'll be interesting to see what happens. I'm sure the police will try to talk their way out of it, but it seems, at least on the face of it, to be a clear cut case of murder by a uniformed official.

Having said this, part of me thinks it's unlikely the officer will get jail time, because they'll come up with some kind of 'rationale' as to why he just had to do this.

Disgusting really.
