In which our heroine opens an email from her dojang, pages down the calendar for the new year, updating her calendar as she goes along...and then makes a strange noise that sounds like a cat-chicken hybrid being shot from a cannon. If the cat component had a hairball.
The next black belt test is in March. That's only two months from now. How did it become so soon?
Given that I'll barely be half-black by then, if then, I'm going to say that I'll not be testing for black belt until next Fall. And that irks me. I always find it annoying when I do not instantly master anything I set my hand to (regardless of effort, naturally). I am very far from mastery. I've got the humility part down pretty well, though...I just have to be careful not to let it slip into poor-talking, one of my even-less-pleasant tendencies.
Martial arts is not my top priority. My writing is, despite that I have recently been doing martial arts more often simply because the classes are regularly scheduled on certain days for certain times. My writing is still my priority, though, to the extent that I feel some guilt at staying for full-contact training after a regular class because, the theory goes, I could be home and writing. Yet, I have not been acting as if my writing is my top priority. I've been acting as if work (Job #1/Job #2) is. But it isn't. I feel pushed to act as if it is, from multiple directions, but the dichotomy is etching acid marks on my soul/sanity/serenity. And yes, studying Tae Soo Do/Hwa Rang Do is an important part of my stability, too.
There's a damn good reason that figuring out how to balance everything was one of my New Years' Resolutions.
What's my motto for 2007 again? Ah, yes.
There Is No Stress. There Is Only Do.
It's OK. I'll be fine once I've had a couple of days off from Job #1 to write this story I have a most excellent idea for by deadline (January 17--needs to be written, gain feedback, and edited--yes, the sushi one), do a fell swoop of cleaning through the house, and get all my martial arts material notes typed up and organized so I can by-God study.
