Happy Valentines Day!
Would you like to show the world how much you love Veronica Mars?
athenacqd and I are co-producing a little video about YOU, the Veronica Mars fandom. This is your opportunity to tell the world what you love about this amazing show and the many ways you've expressed that love over the past three years. The film will focus on how Veronica Mars united and inspired a (relatively) small, but dedicated group of fans to be more than just passive viewers, but passionate champions for this underdog show.
How can you show your love? We are asking you, the fans, to submit any existing media (video, pictures, audio clips, artwork, etc.) that demonstrates your personal expreinces as a VM fan - meeting the cast, conventions, winning VM-related items on ebay or in contests, campaigns, creative expressions, etc. In addition, we would like you to submit a video and/or audio clip (mpeg 3) that you create specifically for this film. Bear in mind, we are looking for very specific things contentually (as outlined below), but are open to any ideas and suggestions you may have. We really want this film to be "your film" as much as it is ours, so we'll accept any submissions and suggestions. However, we reserve the right to omit/edit any footage we deem unsuitable or that does not fit within the focus of the film.
What to submit:
VIDEO FOOTAGE
Existing:
~Video (analog or digital) that you personally videotaped at any VM related events (conventions, screenings, the Austin Marsathon, cast appearances, etc.)
~Video of any campaigns you were involved with online or otherwise.
Created for VM Fan Video:
~YouTube-style "Talking Head" Videos expressing your stories. Below are some "talking points," but feel free to express yourself however you want.
*How and when did you first discover Veronica Mars?
*What moment "hooked" you on the show?
*Why do you keep watching the show?
*How have you promoted the show to others and how many people have you managed to "hook" into watching the show?
*What online campaigns were you invoved in?
*Who is your favorite character on the show and why?
*Which relationship do you think is the best on the show and why?
*What VM-related items have you purchased - such as clothes and accessories worn by characters, autographed scripts, etc. (Please provide pictures and/or video of items)
*What VM-related "stories" do you have? This can be absolutely anything you feel like telling that's related to VM.
(Examples: "I hung out with Michael Munhey at ________ and we talked about ________" or "I met a bunch of my online VM friends at Marsathon," etc.)
Format: I would prefer digital (DV or minidv) duplicates of the original media (video) that you shot. I can also accept analog duplicates. (VHS, VHS-C, Hi8, etc.) Please do not send me the original videotape as I will not be returning any videos that are sent. If you can't send me a duplicate, you can email your footage to me via yousendit.com. Also, if you do not live in the U.S. but want your video included in the film, send me a duplicate of your PAL or SECAM video. I can transfer it to NTSC.
AUDIO CLIPS
For those of you who are camera-shy or just don't have a lot of time to create a video, you can also create an mp3 audio clip for the film just by picking up your phone and dialing. We are looking for pretty much the same content that is listed above, but feel free to express yourself however you want. When you call, be sure to say it is for the Veronica Mars fan video.
Format: mp3, audio cd
PHOTOS
Any images are fine. You can email them to the address listed below. Acceptable formats include JPEG, BMP, PNG, TIFF, GIF or Photoshop images. The images must have been taken by you (or of you) with your own camera. Please include a description of who, what, when, where and how it's related to VM with each photo.
ARTWORK/GRAPHICS
You can submit drawing, painting, music, graphic art, etc. that is related to the show. All artwork must be originated by you. Any artwork submitted must be from your own imagination. No works derived from photographs or scenes from VM episodes will be accepted.
What NOT to submit:
*Anything not related to Veronica Mars
*Any media that was not originated by you using your own equipment.
*Anything recorded without the knowledge or permission of the subject. For instance, if you recorded Kristen Bell walking down the street with your video phone and she had no idea you were stalking recording her, we won't use it. However, if you videotaped KB during a panel discussion, signing autographs or chatting up fans at a convention, send it in!
How to submit:
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS MARCH 22ND.
AUDIO CLIPS can be recorded by calling 408-914-AHOY (2469). This is the same number used for the Neptune Pirate Radio podcast, so be sure to say your recording is for the Veronica Mars video - not the podcast.
