still alive...

Still alive. Absolutely adore job. Do not adore person who worked it part-time before I took over who fucked up all kinds of records that I am now having to untangle, but hey, that's why they hired me.

Stinky house becoming less so with the advent of winter.

My first back-in-OK winter sickness is coinciding with my boss's first significant absence (she's out of town at a conference until next week), and I am REALLY not wanting to call in sick while she's not here, because the previous person also had a proclivity for taking advantage of boss's absence to not show up and/or not get work done. To this end, I am severely doped on cold medication, so please excuse weirdness of post.

Biggest problem now: no job for J yet. He's on the verge of deciding to go back to school to get an employable degree so he won't have to go through this job-hunting drama again every couple of years, but the money crunch is looming right there with the other drama. Blargh. He is substitute teaching, which does bring in some money and at least gets him out of the house, but I have to say I am appalled at how little even subs make.

Many, many apologies that I haven't been keeping up with everyone lately. Much angst has been floating around the OK version of casa Jordan (which, I must add, is nowhere near as "home"-feeling yet as the Bloomington version; yes, I know the other one had 5 years, but still) and I've been trying to keep it off LJ because I know everyone has lots of stuff going on.

Last thing: Squee-age. My favoritest author, Robin McKinley, can now add to her accomplishments the title of robinmckinley. That's right! She has an LJ all her very own, and seems to be posting prolifically. So I don't have to wait for ages to get my fix. She also has a new book out this fall (which I don't have yet...Borders doesn't have it, and I foolishly can't bring myself to go to B&N because so many of the Borders people here are ones that I used to work with--I wish they had an opening for J, because that is the sign of a great manager, that all the core staff are still there after 8 years, and indeed the awesome guy who ran the store when I worked there is still the general manager, but alas they are all full even through Christmas), and another one coming out next fall.

OK, 1 more last little bit of squee-age: Ratatouille is out on video! It was such a delightful little movie. Yes, yes, I know, Disney is crap, but Pixar is great and this was so very much fun. I may make J go out and get it for me as an apology for giving me this sinus crap. Yay for cute rodents in chef hats.

Off to go sleep off the NyQuil. Will write soon to those of you who are owed long letters (you know who you are).
