Over Down Under
Last week I found out that in November 2008, I get a trip to Sydney, Australia. All-expense-paid (or most-expenses-paid, anyway, like hotel and plane). If I could have been working a little sooner, I could have gotten an all-expense-paid trip to Mexico City this year, but both my boss and I felt that it would be a little too soon. It's for a DELAMAN (Digital Endangered Language and Music Archives Network) conference, and as the language archive I work at is currently the only one in the US focusing on Native North American languages (there is one in Austin that focuses on South American languages), I and Mary and our audio/visual consultant Mike are going to go and present.

I've also been informed that J can come with us if we pay for his ticket (not sure how hotel rooms would work but it will certainly bear investigating). So now we have to figure out how to scrape up $3k for a plane ticket...I figure, he still has his black plastic pants and there are lots of street corners in OKC...
