I just got back from Bloomingfoods. On my way home, a silver SUV slammed to a stop in front of me for the apparent purpose of picking up a friend they saw walking on the side of the road.
Now, I applaud their impulse to stop and give a ride to a friend in need. But, aside from the fact that had I not been paying attention I would have rear-ended them (I stopped what felt like inches off their back bumper as it was) or worse, swerved to avoid a crash and hit their then-pedestrian friend instead, the two bags of groceries I had in the backseat were catapulted into the floor. One contained milk, a jar of vegan mayonnaise, and other heavy sundries. The other contained a dozen (expensive organic) eggs. Take a wild guess as to which one ended up on the bottom. Luckily there were enough salvageable eggs for me not to have to immediately go back to the store, but I still got to spend about half an hour when I got home picking the mess out of the floor of my car. But, surely, their little hand wave out the window once we all got moving again made up for the dripping fetal chicken ooze soaking into poor Jeeves' carpet... *snarl*
There was a stoplight not too far after the incident, and while I refrained from getting out of my car and venting my gnomish spleen up close and personal, I DID memorize their license plate number. Legal considerations prevent me from revealing the creative ideas I've been considering, but suffice it to say that I hope I don't ever find them parked somewhere conveniently isolated, because the little shoulder angel/devil wars can get messy.
With a very few exceptions to the rule, I hate SUV drivers.
On a new note, apologies to friends I've been neglecting. I've been really down for a variety of reasons, and been trying to refrain from LJ whining, since this is the only contact I have with a lot of you and I don't want to be too grating. So note that as of right now I'm pretty sporadic about reading posts; if you need to get in touch with me, email will be the best bet. Try closetgnome (at) hotmail (dot) com.
Bright spots: new tattoos, second computer, doing okay on limiting amount (though not type) of food eaten
Down spots: vicious mood swings, tight finances (see first two bright spots), nothing from Roswell after my interview and no new offers (though several rejections), lack of exercise motivation, general unhappiness over weight and job situations, squabbles with friends, overall stress leading to insomnia and sleepwalking.
On a mildly funny note: the first of the last several nights' sleepwalking incidents involved me getting up and rummaging around for clothing so that I could be properly dressed to go meet the gnome who informed me that he was ready to trade the blueberries for the weapons. J thinks I should have left blueberries out the second night, but gnomish arms dealers are just a little too questionable. Plus I am a little too fond of blueberry pancakes.
Mmmmm, blueberry pancakes. Good thing I have a few eggs left.
