Incoherence
So, confirmation, if it was needed, that Norn Iron politics are just screwed up as ever. And no, I'm not talking about the fact that Martin McGuinness was going for Deputy First Minister, which is in itself deeply annoying. No, I'm talking about Michael Stone. He's a fucking idiot. If it hadn't been for the fact that he had politics to concern himself with, he'd be in prison anyway for murder. He's a psycho, and a self-serving one at that point. If he honestly wanted that attack to work - one which would have wiped out pretty much the entire Assembly, so you'd think it would be getting more coverage*, but fuck it's only Northern Ireland - you think he wouldn't have spraypainted a slogan on the outside of Stormont before going in, and might have sent someone else, his face being well known. So it is more for the publicity than anything else.
Argh. I can't manage to be coherent about this. But one point I predicted. I understand that letting the prisoners out had to be part of Good Friday. I just wish there had been an alternative route. Because now, should things go tits-up, there are countless people out there with the knowledge and the sufficiently insane nature to carry things out. And some of these, most notably Michael Stone, would be in prison anyway for murdering people. He enjoys being a murderer, and whatever warped status that gives him. Why else would he have confessed to three murders he didn't commit? Refuse to offer any defence so that the prosecution had to use all the evidence they had? So that is the calibre of man released, so that there could be peace. But infighting between gangs has gone on. Infighting between political groups has gone on. And what have they acheived? From where I'm sitting, very little. Nothing of any lasting import, at any rate.
Maybe whats riling me is the interview with Tony Blair. Almost identical to those he has given on Iraq. Head out of the arse time, Tony, and do some original thinking. Maybe don't talk to Bush about this one, but try something yourself. OK?
Though, I *love* the fact that he was trapped in a revolving door. Hee.
*I just looked at a few of the websites of bigger newspapers - 3rd or 4th story. I'm not asking for huge front page stories, as that would only increase his publicity, but a bit more than a couple of paragraphs, please.

I am planning my days after dissertation. I've been thinking about it for ages. First thing, a giant lie-in. Then I'm going to have an OCD orgy with my DVDs, which are all still in the boxes I posted them home in. I want a list of all DVDs and all the extras. And then I'm going to glut myself. Day 1, musicals. Day 2, Coen brothers. Ahhhh, bliss.
