"Can I..." he smiles, as if that should finish the sentence, the plea there, eyes quickly scanning over her body, almost embarrassed, wishing he could see through the trench coat.
"I'm surprised you didn't get in trouble for looking too happy," he says, smiling. "Or too beautiful, for that matter."

He is, of course, glad that she doesn't consider him female, but that is hardly what's at stake here.
When her coat slips open and he gets just a glimpse...
"You look... you look... amazing," he finishes with a soft little sigh and a smile, and the mere fact reminds him that he should give her the corsage. "Oh, right! This is for you. I didn't know what color would... match, so I figured I'd match at least one thing." He smiles, holding it out to her.
