9. List the 3-5 biggest things going on in your life:
a) Cancer. After having Crohn's disease for 19 years, it finally turned cancerous on me. So, back in June, I had my colon and rectum removed and replaced with an ileostomy appliance. For most of the rest of this year, I'll be in chemo and/or radiation treatments. One thing I've learned from all this is just how many people are pulling for me, and it's been both humbling and heart-warming.
b) Finding old friends. I've been getting back in contact with friends with whom I had long since lost contact--some, to pass on the news above and others, just because I want them back in my life.
c) Self-acceptance. Those of you who have read my journal for a long time may remember my ongoing journey to rediscover and accept my true self. Whether it's my bi-curiosity, my polyamorous leanings, or the realization that I'm not the monster I thought I was, each day takes me closer to being the person I'm meant to be.
d) Writing. You long-term readers also know that what I really want to do in this life is to tell stories (and get paid for it). I've has serious problems with writer's block lately, but I'm going after it from a different angle this time--this time, I'm going inside my head and heart to find out how and why I'm sabotaging my own desires. Interestingly enough, the above self-acceptance seems to be the key.
10. School:
I am (still) just two courses away from getting my Bachelor's Degree, but my Associate's is enough for the job I hold now--it's on the "someday" list.
11. Parents:
My mom died in 1986 from a prescription overdose, and my dad died in 2005 from complications of colon cancer.
12. Who are some of your closest friends?:
My two closest friends (right behind Katie) are also two women that I love and would gladly take on as secondary relationships, if circumstances permit. They know who they are, and I'll not name them here.
