Awake

Ok, wow, I slept a lot last night. I was pretty much asleep from 9 pm until 5 am...then from 7 am to 10:30 am...guess I had a lot of catching up to do. But now I feel much more alert and everything. Talked to Nathan and Shelly on the phone, which was vedy vedy nice. It's so cool to have friends who understand how much the LA trip meant to me. Poor Nathan seems to have run into problems with his Myrtle Beach trip...but I'm sure he's still gonna have a kick ass time in Durham before he heads to NYC. I called some storage places today to get rate info. Now I gotta run it by Vonna and see what she thinks. I also need to swing by Kinko's and pick up the law review materials.

But first, I shall continue some more of the story from the trip.

Friday night (at Studio 21 at Fox, after being seated):
So, the rest of the audience comes in and sits. Music playing in the background ranges from "Jessie's Girl" to "Milkshake", hehe. The crew is setting up the set, doing camera checks, etc. The warm up guy, Mark, comes out and gets everyone excited. Then, they play the third episode on the monitors so foks who haven't seen the show before will be familiar with the characters. After the episode, Mark introduces the writer of the episode, who comes and waves. Then he introduces Steve Levitan, the creator and exec producer. I would get to talk to Levitan later. He also introduces the producer Steve Richman (producer from "Frasier"), and the director of the episode (from our seats, Nicole and I wold be able to hear this woman talking to the assistant director with hilarious comments). Then comes the cast. Each one was introduced and came running out to bow. Wow, talk about energy!!!! The whole audience was standing and cheering. The first to come out was Brian Scolaro, then Marissa Winokur, then Chris Lloyd, then Elon Gold, and then Pam Anderson. When Pam came out, the song "Pour Some Sugar on Me" started playing, and everyone sang along. The cast gave each other their hugs and whatnot. You could tell throughout the whole taping that they are a tight-knit, friendly cast. They would constantly joke around with one another.

Ok, so the taping begins. The first scene involves this really funny Back to the Future reference made by Christopher Lloyd's character where he talks about mad scientists. It was sooo funny. And Chris had this great pause and facial expression. Audience couldn' stop laughing. They did multiple takes and each time, Chris did something different that was even funnier than the last ("I knew a mad scientist once---people died!"). He actually added a line at the end that was perfect, where he made it onimous and creepy, yet very funny (involving a fight and resulting in a blood bath). Throughout the whole taping, Chris only messed up once (said "Harvard" instead of "Dartmouth"), Brian Scolaro messed up a few times, but he was so funny when he messed up. He would get caught up in a line and at one point yelled "what the fuck?!" and it was great. Elon Gold messed up once opposite Pam Anderson and he kept trying to say it correctly and finally Anderson was like "I thought I was the amateur!" which made everyone laugh and applaud. The best outtake however involved the actor who played Pam Anderson's ex-bf. They did this one scene where he's supposed to give back a watch. They had already gone through multiple takes. And then in this one take (which was going perfectly), at the very end, he goes to take off the watch and realizes he wasn't wearing it. It was so funny because everyone was like "damn it!" since it was the very end of the scene and they had to tape it all over again for continuity. Hehehehe.

Ok, ok, gotta run to Kinko's, but more later...
