Okay, I could have quoted the whole thing. I really could have. But, I restrained myself to just a few bits.

The opening to this, that first line, is supposed to be in Jess's voice. A very, "but wait! There's more!" kind of thing. I don't think it worked too well.

Worked great.

She doesn't realize he isn't lying. He doesn't like the music but it makes him think of John and Dean and as independent as he is and wants to be he still misses them like all hell sometimes.

Awww. I really love that one.

And Sam screams along with Johnny Cash because what he does can't be called signing by any stretch of the imagination.

Oh, yay! I was always so worried because I hear her voice while typing it but I wasn't sure it was strong enougbh to carry through.

On day I'm gonna do the ultimate songfic. All the songs Sam listened to at Stanford when he missed Dean and all the ones for when he missed John and all the ones now for when he misses Jess. Eventually.

I find it virtually impossible to write her without him in there somewhere. They've been friends forever and lived together until she and Sam moved in.

Hell, he makes a small appearance in my Big Bang even! He's the Evan that tells Sam about the Saturn Cafe without mentioning it being a vegetarian place.

I hadn't read this before, so I'm glad you reposted it. I love Jess and it's interesting to see Jess as a future social worker--my undergrad degree is in social work, and I can definitely see exactly why she'd draw all these conclusions about John and the boys, based on the usual textbook patters of characteristics of abused kids, and boundaries and the way systems function. But now that's making me sad, for someone to assume that about John, even though it makes sense. :) *uses family icon to feel better*
