A linkspam that has been THREE DAYS IN THE MAKING.

@bathbomb: Also, today I did a little sketch of @cleolinda. This is what she looks like in my head.

@cleolinda: @bathbomb Other than the fact that I'm about twice as wide, it's actually pretty good.

@foresthouse: @cleolinda You look like that in my head too. Except there is a Pallas cat grumping over your shoulder.

@cleolinda: @foresthouse Considering that you've seen me in person, the likeness must be impressive.

@foresthouse: @cleolinda Well, okay, actually I confess that in my head you have purple hair, and no amount of seeing you IRL can change that. :P

It's like every time I saw another headline about this, I side-eyed in a different direction. (ETA: It turns out that the second and third headlines are actually for the same article--I checked. So basically, Movieline is trolling my side-eye at this point.)

What really happened at the infamous Dan DiDio/Hire More Women incident; The New 52 and the Batgirl of San Diego; from Diane Duane: The Women at DC Comics kurfuffle: a note from over here.

@StephenWacker: Everyone angry about the "women in comics" debate should go pick up the "Girl Comics" collection from Marvel. Fantastic Anthology.

Also: Tom Hardy compares The Dark Knight Rises to an airport store, because of course. "So, to recap: Being the villain in The Dark Knight Rises is like being the $10 and Under boutique or the Cinnabon at the airport, where everyone would rather shop at the Duty Free store, or working as a barista at Starbucks to keep your punk band afloat. Makes total sense. Let’s start a trend: Name your airport spirit animal-retailer below!" What's the airport equivalent of Claire's Boutique?

Then we actually started looking at a clip from the real show.

@Ceilidhann: The Letterman show audience reactions to the Spider-Man musical number are hilarious. A lot of barely concealed O_O faces.

@Ceilidhann: Seriously, if Turn Off The Dark was this campy all the way through, I’d adore it.

@cleolinda: 2:08 was where I said “What the crap” out loud.

@Ceilidhann: The blow up dinosaur thing from 2:18 looks like Reptar from The Rugrats. $75million well spent!

@cleolinda: It was nice of Grace Jones to show up at 2:50, though.

David E. Kelley's Wonder Woman pilot would have been Hollywood's weirdest take on superheroes yet. "And everybody worries about Wonder Woman's mental state and whether she's lonesome and whether she needs a man, all the time - even when she's facing criminal charges for beating up tons of people without any justification. And she spends rather a lot of time in her "corporate bosslady" identity, with a huge office overlooking a giant hive of worker bees, all of them apparently toiling away to merchandise her image for profit. All of the profits from her crass self-promotion go to help her beat up more people in her spare time, we're told." Also, crying and eating ice cream, I heard. Seriously, Kelley: fuck you.

The new League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is a magical mystery tour through Alan Moore's head. Way to make it sound terrifying there.

Reviews

@JM_Underwood: Rise of the Planet of the Apes is a fucking triumph. Message ends. #apeswillrise

@JM_Underwood: I genuinely think Andy Serkis might pick up an Oscar nomination for #apeswillrise. Wouldn't that be something? Mesmerising performance.

And now, the resulting review: We were dreading Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Silly us. It's AMAZING.

Meanwhile: Tom Felton Attends Premiere of His New Film, "Rise of the Planet of the Apes." I have to admit, I had a hard time not laughing out loud when I finally saw a version of the trailer that included Felton (at the Deathly Hallows midnight showing, no less). I mean, of course Draco Malfoy is the reason humanity gets screwed.

@christylemire: Writing my review of "Bellflower." Trying to find a way to say batshit crazy without actually saying batshit crazy.
